Character.ai Mobile Proxies: Verify the US App Experience

Character.ai is a mobile-first consumer product with features, safety gates and subscription offers that depend on the market and on the device class. Its web and app surfaces treat a hosting address with suspicion and a carrier address as normal. Teams that build companion tooling, run brand characters, or QA their own flows that embed or link to Character.ai need to see the US mobile version. A Mobile Proxies US line gives that view from a real carrier SIM in a chosen US metro, with an API for exit IP and rotation.

Market- and device-dependent behaviour

Feature flags (voice, calls, group chats, new model tiers) tend to reach US accounts first. Age and content gates are applied by region. The subscription screen shows market pricing and the store's purchase flow. The mobile app checks the connection type and platform before some features load. Sign-in and account recovery from a hosting ASN draw extra verification.

A test from a US cloud region sees a generic path; a test from a Houston carrier line sees what a Houston phone sees. That is the whole reason to use one.

Testing your own characters and integrations

Brands and creators running public characters want to see how the character page, the share links and the first-message experience render for US users on phones. Load your own character pages through the line in a mobile browser profile or the app in an emulator behind the SOCKS5 endpoint. This is reading your own public content and sits inside any terms.

If you link into Character.ai from your own app, test the handoff from a carrier network: deep links, app-store fallbacks and the return path behave differently on cellular than on Wi-Fi.

QA of the app on a real cellular network

Run the Android build in an emulator or on a test device with its Wi-Fi proxy pointed at the line. Voice features need UDP, which the SOCKS5 endpoint carries. Switch between a 4G and a 5G line to see both ends of mobile bandwidth; both are fine for chat, and 5G is the better choice for voice and image-heavy sessions.

Read the exit IP from the API before each run and store it with the test case. Keep one account on one line and let the address sit; the carrier holds it for hours by default.

State-level gates and which database they read

Age and content rules for minors are increasingly set state by state, so a gate can depend on which state an address resolves to, and databases disagree about carrier ranges. Before buying, GET /locations/geo-spread shows which states a location's addresses have appeared in, per database. After a run, new_ip_geo in GET /proxies/UUID/ip-history gives what ipinfo, MaxMind and DB-IP said about the exact address used.

Record that next to the gate's behaviour. If the app applied one state's rule while two databases named another, you have found the database it reads. Rotate once and the same check runs on a second address from the same pool. A line bought under a state name, such as 4G Texas, is held to SIMs fixed to that state, which removes one variable from a test of this kind.

Rotation and terms

Rotate between sessions, never inside one. A conversation whose address changes mid-chat looks like account sharing to any consumer platform. A GET on the line's rotation_link, a wait for the new exit IP, then the next session.

Use your own accounts within Character.ai's terms. The line does not change age or region settings on an account, and it is not a tool for running accounts the platform's rules do not allow.

Setting up a Character.ai proxy on Mobile Proxies US

  1. Buy a line in the metro you want to test from; 5G if voice features are in scope.
  2. Read endpoints and credentials from the API and set them on an emulator (SOCKS5) or a mobile browser profile (HTTP).
  3. Confirm the exit IP through an echo page and check the ASN is a US carrier.
  4. Run the feature checklist: gates, subscription screen, voice, your own character pages; log exit IP per item.
  5. Rotate by API between sessions; move the line to another metro for free for a second geography.

Character.ai proxy questions

Will the line change which features my account has?

No. Features follow the account's region and tier. The line shows what a US mobile user with an equivalent account sees.

HTTP or SOCKS5 for the app?

SOCKS5 for an emulator or device so voice (UDP) and WebSockets follow the line. HTTP for a browser profile.

Can I keep the same address for weeks?

The address is sticky as long as the carrier keeps it, usually many hours. A monthly plan with no rotation is the closest thing to a fixed mobile address.

Real US carrier IPs for Character.ai

Dedicated 4G and 5G endpoints, eight US metros. Sticky sessions, unlimited rotation, HTTP(S) and SOCKS5. Endpoints from $2 per two hours, $5 per day.
